Director
Mr. Hamilton is the Director of Ecosystem Growth and Impact for Stony Brook University’s Economic Development. He is responsible for enhancing and growing SBU’s impact and awareness throughout the State of New York and, in particular, in the regional innovation ecosystem. Prior to undertaking this role, Mr. Hamilton was Director of Programs, where he oversaw the five major program areas within Economic Development, including the Center of Excellence in Wireless Technology (CEWIT), the Center in Integrated Electric Energy Systems (CIEES), the Strategic Partnership for Industrial Resurgence (SPIR) program, the Manufacturing and Technology Resource Consortium (MTRC) and the Advanced Energy Research & Technology Center (AERTC). Mr. Hamilton is also the former Executive Director of the virtual Clean Energy Business Incubator Program (CEBIP).
His education includes a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Clarkson University and a MBA in Marketing from Hofstra University. He brings a focus in clean energy technologies with experience in economic development, business development, commercialization of engineering technologies, marketing and sales, as well as an ability to communicate well with early stage entrepreneurs.
Mr. Hamilton started his professional career with the Long Island Lighting Company managing independent power producers. From there, he has been involved in the design, development and implementation of Sirius Satellite Radio's terrestrial transmitters, developing sales and marketing plans for aerospace and IT companies, managing the sales and operation of hydrogen fuel cells for Plug Power, and developing commercial sales and marketing for EmPower Solar, a leading Long Island turnkey solar provider.
